Parents may be interested in reading a recent BBC news article (8th May 2008) by Hannah Goff "Catch-up reading scheme success". (news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education) It contains a short video clip in which a young boy explains the benefits of having one to one tuition. Teachers have always known that a one to one setting is usually the most effective way to support struggling readers and Reading One To One's approach is based on this method.
2008 is The National Year of Reading and the National Literacy Trust website has up to date news on events across the country. There are also posters on reading to download. All free!!
Parents often ask which books are the best for children who lack reading confidence and we hope to bring you regular updates of new titles as well as any other news in the world of reading! Waterstones Bookshops support Dyslexia Action and a fantastic list of books can be downloaded from their website.
